Digital knits are representing physical knits in the digital space. But they aren't subject to the same limitations of their physical counterparts. Digital knits can be anything from translucent and weightless to unnaturally thick and furry. Garments can fly or be house-sized.
However, I am concentrating for now on digital knits that are used for garments with the intention of being physically produced.
Digital Knits Definition
Digital knits are defined as the visual representation of knit stitches, patterns and clothing using computer aided design, deriving from the term digital fashion, coined by fashion researchers Särmäkari and Vänskä (2021).
